Last night my friend and I went out for wine samplers at a delightful Washington restaurant, where folks dined al fresco in the warm mid-October eve. After the cheese plate and sample of "light" wines, we enjoyed a richer set of wines served with chocolate truffle cake a la mode. Afterward, we walked into her night class 1 hour late, interrupted the professor and then distracted him by doodling through his lecture, then worked to charm him out of being angry at us by the end of the class. Success! From the university, we travelled to her basement apartment in upper Georgetown where we freed her cooped up pet "Timmy" (a 5 lbs., fluffy white dog) and sat outside discussing theology and God until the wee hours.
Conclusion: The Earth is large, the Universe is larger; the higher you reach, the farther you fall; the first steps toward the next step are the most difficult ones to take.
